The certification was announced by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). The independent third-party audit of Guangdong Longda Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. was conducted by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services. The ASI Certification program, developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process, is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard for the aluminium value chain.

The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022), launched in May 2022 after a multi-year revision process, outlines 11 principles and 62 criteria across three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance. Its goal is to address critical sustainability challenges in the aluminium value chain, including biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples' rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
